The Good News About Dating Now!

Updated: Feb 5, 2021

During this pandemic, with all the social distancing requirements and public meeting places closed, many singles don't know if it's worth continuing their search for love or if it’s even possible.

But there’s some really good news about dating now!

What good news, you say?

More singles are looking for a serious relationship now than before Covid-19!

The top online dating companies have reported at least a 30% increase in subscriptions and user activity since the pandemic started.

Despite the physical distancing and other pandemic restrictions, singles are finding new ways to meet and get to know each other.

They’ve gone back to the basics of phone and video conversations to get to know one another first as friends. They’re learning about each other's values, interests and desires and they’re sharing what’s important to them with a vulnerability that was not present in the dating scene to this degree before now.

There aren’t any of the dating logistics of where to meet, who will pay, what to wear, a kiss or hug on the 1st date, your place or theirs, etc. With all those decisions out of the way, there’s only conversation and sharing.

It turns out you can be looking for your soulmate and there are ways to do it safely and not lose time waiting for this pandemic to be over.

This is some of the latest information about the dating world.

  • 39% of U.S. couples meet online now

  • It’s the #1 way couples meet today

  • 67% of men and 33% of women use online dating (data reported by Match.com)

  • 1 in 3 committed relationships began online

  • 1 in 3 marriages began online; this used to be 1 in 6 marriages began online

  • The number of people using online dating increases 6-10% every year

  • The fastest growing demographic is the over 50 age group

In 2017, the U.S. census reported 110.6 million unmarried people over the age of 18—that’s 45.2 percent of the American adult population.

Another benefit I’m noticing is that the pandemic has caused many people to show up more authentically in dating and relationships. When singles meet up as their authentic selves, without some of those former pretenses, they have a much better chance of connecting to their true love now 💖. And that’s something I’m REALLY excited about!

I'd love to hear what you’re finding out there in the dating scene. Drop me a note and let me know! Maria
